found by BRIDGES-NBS?
Normal
(negative
screening test)
A normal result means none of the genes we screened showed a risk for the specific conditions included in the study.
It does not rule out all possible health or genetic issues. The baby will continue routine care with their healthcare provider.
Abnormal
(positive
screening test)
An abnormal result does not always mean your baby has the condition. However, it does mean that your baby is at risk for having it, and that additional testing, monitoring, or evaluation with specialists may be needed to better understand what the result means for your baby.
Your baby’s healthcare provider or someone from your state newborn screening program will contact you to explain the result and discuss next steps, which may include things like extra testing or monitoring.
